Schiehallion, the fairy mountain and Glen Lyon provided the backdrop for a unique wedding ceremony recently for a couple from the south who were wed in a stunning hilltop location. They were wanting something a little different from the norm in a hilltop location with views over Glenlyon, Scotland's longest glen. The team from Highland Adventure Safaris, based near Aberfeldy laid on everything from a pipe band to greet the 50 guests who arrived by 4x4 to a secluded clearing in the forest where the marquees were set up. The guests were amazed to find tables covered with white linen set for a banquet, Steven Downes from Lurgan farm shop, resplendent in his chef's outfit ready to serve fine starters and accompaniments to a pig roasting on a spit and the Reverend Anne Brennan ready to perform the ceremony. The ceremony could not help but be moving as the sun softly lit up the amazing scenery and the birds provided music from the tall pines and the bees hummed over the purple heather where the young bridesmaids gamboled like fairies After toasting the newlyweds with wine and champagne provided by the House of Menzies and a sumptuous lunch the entire wedding party was taken by 4x4 down to Fortingall hall for a ceilidh provided by Alan and May Brown where dancing was enjoyed into the wee small hours. the higher we climb, the more YOU LEAVE BEHIND...
